In a “How-to tutorial” entitled “European Union research grant: how to write and apply?” at the Annual Congress of the European Society for Cardiology (ESC) that was chaired by the EC officer responsible for CONTICA, Dr. Virginija Dambrauskaite, Prof. Pieske was an invited speaker. He provided and discussed his hands on experience with CONTICA with the audience.

Prof. Pieske organized and chaired a symposium during the 74
th Annual Meeting of the German Society for Cardiology (DGK), that was held in association with the CONTICA project. The title of the 90 minutes symposium was: “Dysfunctional cardiomyocyte ion handling and triggered arrhythmias – from basic mechanisms to clinics (in association with the EU “CONTICA” project)”.
The CONTICA project was introduced to Austrian journalists at the occasion of the annual ZMF day (a local science day at MUG) in November 2008 by the scientific project manager, PD Dr. Kockskämper. As a result, reports on the CONTICA project and its topic, Ca

In an interview with a journalist of the FH Joanneum (Graz), the coordinator and the scientific project manager explained the goals and research of CONTICA. The resulting article appeared in the science part of the website of the ORF, the public Austrian broadcasting company, ORF-Wissen.
Next CONTICA Annual Meeting will be held in Bratislava (Slovakia) presumably in Feb/Mar 2008.

Contica Annual Meeting took place in Montpellier, 29-31 March 2007.
Dr. Simon Sedej has joined the group of Prof. Dr. Burkert Pieske in Göttingen and will be working on the CONTICA project.
The CONTICA start-up meeting took place in Göttingen, February 24-25. Prof. Dr. Burkert Pieske welcomed and thanked everyone for the teamwork during the preparation of the project and introduced the consortium partners from the various countries and the integrative workplan of CONTICA.
February 1, 2006 is the official start of the CONTICA project.
